Nail Art In the Olympics

Everyone has there own take on Olympic nails but I wanted to show you some of my favorite nails from the Olympians themselves. So here we go:
These nails belong to the British archer, Amy Oliver. They are definately showing her pride, and in a sport where your hands are almost the spotlight its a great way to show it off.

The nails of tennis player Caroline Wozniacki feature the Danish flag, its simple to achieve this cool look, leaving plenty of time for this athlete to enjoy her time in London.

Angeligue Kerber used her nails to show off her German pride.

These are my favorites, that i have seen. These belong to Australian Kayaker Jessica Fox, complete with a Kangaroo too!

Product Review: Migi Nail Art Pens

Hey, my little designers. I wanted to let you know about these really cool nail pens I bought as a gift for my sister. The pens work great. Each pack is about twenty dollars, but it is worth every penny. Each comes with 8 colors, and a versatile cap that allows regular painting or fine designing , one for each color. The colors also have a lifetime warranty, so if you run out of polish or something breaks you can get another as a replacement. I'll admit, that if you have a complete set of dotting tools, this product is obsolete and way more expensive. But for those designers who are not the perfect pro, the work great. I gave it to my sister, and her designs instantly became way more precise and had a beautiful look, and the polish works great too.

Monster Nails

These nails were pretty easy to create. Just paint your nails a bright color and then put little mouths on. Last glue on googly eyes and you are done, not that difficult and it looks great.

Great Deals at Target

Hi guys, listen up there are deals to be had off the Target clearance racks. I am here to tell you how to get the absolute best deal on nail polish. First of all, you need to know where your clearance section for beauty products is. In my experience, it is usually facing a wall and is at the end of the beauty section. Now once you have found this section remember where it is, because you might not find anything there immediately. You see Target puts items on clearance on a week long cycle by department. From experience I know that Target puts their beauty products on clearance on Wednesdays. This doesn't mean there are no other times this stuff is on clearance it might be there for weeks or only a few days, it just depends on the price, populaty and quantity. The third rule is regarding the price. If a price ends in an 8 it will probably be marked down again. If it ends in a 4 it will most likely be the lowest price. You could wait until the price drops lower or snatch up good deals as soon as you see them, the choice is up to you. Some of the best items I have seen are Sally Hansen polishes, and there is usually something made by them there.

Hot Deal: Wet N' Wild

Okay, this week CVS is having a sale on Wet N Wild cosmetics. This applies to the wild shine polish and the eyeliner. The sale would bring each bottle down from 99 cents to 69 cents. It doesn't seem like too much  to spent to begin with, but at regular price you could get 5 bottles for 5 dollars and with this deal you can get 7 for the same price. The best part is, this product rocks, and it ranks right up there with the other high quality polishes like Revlon, or even OPI. Who can beat that amazing type of deal. So hurry on down to CVS and get yourself some polish and eyeliner, because it rocks!!!!!

Product Review: French Wrap Manicure

This product turned out to be amazing, I absolutely love the results and will definately be using the rest of my trial kit and I might even buy more. The tips go on with ease and don't need to be peeled of it pretty much does that itself. To be honest this is the best stick on nail product I have ever used. Usually i put these types of things on and my nails feel so awkward, like I am just taping weights to them. But these tips are so amazing they feel natural and look amazing to. So I recommend these to anyone,  my pack was in white but they come in so many colors so you can find one for any outfit.

TMNT nails!

So here is one of older designs, about a month old, i just finally got around to getting the picture off my phone. And that is why it isn't the best picture quality. I did these because I had a feeling I would be getting a turtle backpack for my, b-day. And guess what, I did! My nails were so popular at school that a teacher even took a picture and posted them on facebook! They really arent too hard though.
Here's how:

  1. paint your nails green, any shade but as close to turtle color as possible
  2. on each finger paint a stripe in blue, purple, red , or orange- but only one color per nail
  3. on the colored stripes put two white dots
  4. on the white dots put smaller black dots
  5. clear coat!
Polishes used::
Green: Wet N' Wild Fast Dry- Sage in the city
White: Sinful Colors-Snow
Black: Wet N' Wild Wild Shine- Black Creme

New Gifts!

Today i received 2 gifts. One was essie nail polish, and a really cool color at that, and the other was this french wrap manicure. I have never tried the french wrap manicure and so I am anxious to see if it will be good or a disappointment like so many other stick on manicures. I will let you all know when I try it, but it normally is around $15 so it will hopefully be good quality.

Red, White ,and Blue Splatter paint nails

I got in the patriotic spirit in preparation for tomm. By splatter painting my nails, at first thought this might sound like a mess . But when you use a straw it can end up looking pretty cool, and your clothes won't be ruined. The picture below isn't mine but it really does show how to splatter paint rather well.
Okay, to clarify:
  1. paint your nails white
  2. once dry tape the edges( it make everything cleaner)
  3. take a straw cut in half
  4. dip it in red paint
  5. blow onto the nail
  6. repeat with blue
  7. cleanup with a cu-tip
  8. clear coat

New Page!

Look up and see the new pages there now are. The tutorials are all up now, so check them out, some of the best nails now have tutorials including pop tart nails.

4th of July Contest

With so many gret ideas for the 4th of July, I want to see what you do to your nails, so if you do your nails send me a picture and I will feature them on this blog! Please send all pictures to thenailguru9@gmail.com  by Friday, July 6.

Teal Dot Tips

I created this design literally with no idea what to do, it started out as just teal then I found the lighter color and dotted my entire thumb. I planned on doing the same on the rest of my fingers but then my food came to my house and I was distracted with just the top done. Later I saw how cool it looked and continued on the other nails. Another way to do this would be to just put a stripe of dots rather that tips. You could try this with many other colors like pinks or even orange colors. What do you think? Sound off in the comments!

1- paint the nails a base coat, and let it dry all the way!
2- pick a similar color either lighter or darker, now use a bobby pin or dotter to dot the entire thumb.
3-for the other four fingers take the dotter and get ready, the lowest line should be right at where your nail starts to go straight from the outer curve. A little hard to understand, I know, just make sure to get about three rows in.
4-fill in the next two rows
5-repeat for the next 3 nails.
6-apply a clear coat!
and you are done, so enjoy!
Polishes used:
Teal: Milani- Neon Teal
Light Blue: Wet N' Wild Mega Last- I need a refreshmint

Nail Trends: One finger flair

One thing I have noticed on my quests for inspiration, because after all i need to stay in tune with what's cool.   One trend I have noticed  is people who will do solid colors on all but one of their nails. On usually the ring finger they will either do glitter or a design. The thing about it is that it adds so much flair to your nails and it is so much easier than it looks. Especially if you go with glitter, so cute with very little work. So try out thins style, and you can email me a picture to show how it turned out if you want!

Product Review: Sally Hansen Salon Effects PART 2!!!

I am writing a review for this product again, not because I have seen the amazing uses of the product, but because I need to reiterate how much it sucks. Before I tell you my findings, I need to assure you I did not lose my mind and succumb to the outrageous prices and pick myself up a beautiful box of the junk!  No I bought it because it was on clearance for like 2.50 or something, and that is probably the only reason I did not beat my head into the wall!
So I started using this product today. The natural first step was to read the instructions , so I did, it seemed easy enough, just stick em on right. WRONG!!!! The next hour and a half was the most tedious and irritating nail experience ever. First you have to peal off the protective cover, then take the strip off the backing. I am not even kidding you now that you will probably spend about five minutes just trying to peal the dang strip off and in the process wrinkle the already applied strips. So then the problem is that the nails all look like crap, and there isn't really time to redo the nails now.
Now here are the benefits:
  • If you squint they look great or also if you are blind
  • these are a great way to replace your purchase of about five packs of gum.
All in all don't use these unless they pay you!

Nail Designs of the Runway: how to rock the designs of fashion week!

Say adios to the big bags and accessories because now is the time to let your nails take their place! I'll be the first to admit, that yes the nails strait off the runway are a little to daring. But if you can just tone it down a bit, you will have a stunning yet practical manicure in no time. This is what I found:

  • Go for the Gold!: There were many appearances of gold nails on the runway, and it isn't too hard to do this yourself. Just hit the drug store and grab yourself a bottle of gold polish and you're set. It will leave your nails sparkling and you can show just how in tune you are to fashion. My pick for the perfect gold color would be Milani. The gold has large glitter chunks to add the dimension you need for a winning look!
  • Wear the Nude!: Another hit at fashion week was pale colors such as nude or pale pink. This is making your nails so understated that they stand out. Plus chips are much less visible with light colors so for a low maintenance look I recommend the nudes. Go with an Essie polish, they have a huge selection of light polish, so try one, you might like it!
  • Try an Ombre!: Ombre is still ever popular, and why not they look absolutely stunning. So to do this look at my other post and you can try it for your self. I recommend the dark colors for this design, otherwise it is hardly noticeable and looks like your nails are diseased! Eww, who would want that.
  • Use Some Gems For Texture!: Using gems is a great way to style and snazz up simple designs. I don't recommend using real crystals though, they may do it on the runway, but its one of those things you shouldn't try at home. But the look can add the perfect pop to any outfit.

Nail Fashion: Neons

This summer rock the neon colors. It is a quick way to style up your day without making it too complex. The best part is, after a long day at the beach or pool, you can do a touchup without redoing everything. I simply lov to do different colors, to show off my style. So try it out. Milani has a great neon colection!

Pac Man Nails

I was palying pacman when i decided to do these. Love them! And guess what, the pacman is glow in the dark and there are also little hidden glow in the dark dots that he is eating. Overall a simple design that looks outstanding. What do you think?

How to -
1- paint your thumb yellow and the other fingers orange blue red and pink in any order you choose.
2-on your thumb outline a pacman shape. then fill the outside black. it is cool if you add blue gems at the mouth.
3- for the other 4 fingers drw sqiggles on the bottom.
4-next put large white dots where eyes would be
5- then put small black dots over the white
6- apply a clear coat!

Zig Zags

I have tried these before on my toes, but with different colors. I used mush bolder colors this time, because this year going bold is great. I dare you to try your boldest designs I would love to see them. If I like yhem you might see them here on my blog. Here is my email: thenailguru9@gmail.com

Cookie Monster nails

This is one of the coolest things I have ever done. The nails are fuzzy with googly eyes! The way to do it is to buy flocking powder from michaels. Then paint you nails the same color as the powder. Then once it is dry put a thick layer of clear coat. Quickly stick the eyes on, then put a ton of flocking powder on the clear coat. And Tada! You have fuzzy cookie monster nails!

Gradient Nails

Do you like them? To create this effect use a makeup sponge.
First dip the sponge in water.
Next take your 3 to 4 colors and paint them on in stripes (onto the sponge)
Then press the sponge 2-3 times onto your nails
And then you will have a great gradient.
